The first idea for a synchronous web site was by Carlos Puchol in 1996, but was not really followed. In 2002, following the success of the first SLAP workshop, Alain Girault regave birth to this idea, with contributions from Éric Rutten and Florence Maraninchi. Finally, Alain came up with the name SYNALP and created the web site with emacs and gimp.
